How Do You Handle Change?
A Letter from Wendy Burkett
Where has the year gone? I mean, we are seeing the “Back to School Sales” and the leaves on my red bush are already turning red!! Really??!! Now, I’m not saying I am thinking snow yet or Christmas; but I am finding it hard to believe where the time has gone.
When we think about seasons, we not only think and reflect about the seasonal changes we see from year to year; but we also think about the seasonal changes in our own lives. Whether you are in school, out of school, embarking on a new career or direction in your life, a newlywed or single; children in the home or empty nester, there are always changes. How do we handle these changes? Who or what do we turn to. Do we become anxious about these changes or do we just try to ignore them? Do we resign ourselves to these changes and take on a woe-is-me persona–or are we proactive and looking for the next opportunity and challenge? Where are you in the spectrum we call life? Even if you are a ‘Come What May’ type of person, God placed Eternity in our hearts–a sense of belonging–to know where we are going. Do you know where you will be for all Eternity? I pray that you do. Just like the children we serve when we pack a shoebox, we are taking a small part in perhaps ensuring their eternity–an opportunity to share about the Gospel, about Jesus. What a privilege!!
We as the Adams County Area Team continue to encourage others to pack just one more shoebox–which is one more child to hear about the Gospel. It is about Evangelism, Discipleship, and Multiplication, bringing the Gospel to the ends of the earth. It is about the Great Commission. It is about One More Child and that’s an Opportunity that we all get to take part in by God’s Grace.
August Collections:
In August we will be collecting school supplies, like pencils, pens, paper, small notebooks, crayons, markers and other helpful items.
We’ve tried to make it easy for you to donate the items you collect. Here are some ways that you can donate items:
- There is a collection box in the lobby at Littlestown Chapel where you can drop off your items on Sunday mornings beginning at 10:30 a.m.
- Send us message to let us know you have items ready! We can arrange for a convenient time for you to drop them off.
- You can also contact us to let us know that you have items that you would like for us to pick up. We’re happy to do that anytime!
